Outside a debate on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Algeria and the United Kingdom, the representative of the British Government highlighted the important role Algeria plays in the region: “Our relations with Algeria have entered a period of engagement, particularly on security issues. The United Kingdom recognized Algeria’s experience and expertise in the fight against terrorism."
He stressed that the two countries had shared successes and difficult moments, but the strength of our diplomatic relations was intact, expressing his Government’s willpower to strengthen and deepen further cooperation and relations in areas of common interest (defense, fight against terrorism, organized crime).
Rutley also added that British Foreign Minister James Cleverly is “looking forward” to welcoming his Algerian counterpart for the next session of the Strategic Dialog.
The United Kingdom and through its leader welcomed the enactment in Algeria of the new investment law to improve the business climate for international partnerships.
He called for the continuation of the joint commitment to a UK-Algeria Trade Task Force to further strengthen trade and investment links.
