According to a statement by the Ministry of Agriculture, discussions focused on “the exchange of expertise and experience in areas of common interest, including those related to food security, agricultural research, and technical cooperation in the field of forest fire prevention and control.” On this occasion, the two parties reiterated “the willingness of the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations and to realize investment projects in the agricultural sector, given the potential of Algeria and the opportunities offered to investors,” the statement added. In that sense, Henni touched on some areas where the U.S. side could make a contribution “including investment in agriculture, strategic crops and cereal production, as well as in genetic improvement, particularly in dairy production and red meat production.” He also proposed “a greater contribution to development in the southern wilayas,” the statement said.

The U.S. ambassador praised “Algeria’s policy of improving food security, particularly in the context of market volatility and fluctuations,” and said Algeria “is committed to strengthening economic relations and trade.”
