A measure that will help these farmers relaunch cereal production, the minister added on Tuesday, on the sidelines of his working and inspection visit to the wilaya of Tiaret, stressing the need to prioritize the potato and primary cereals sector by mobilizing water resources to achieve the objectives set, such as the production of potatoes, cereals, pulses, and oleaginous plants.

In this context, a commitment to plant 5,000 hectares of seasonal potatoes in the province of Tiaret was signed by the Director General of Agricultural Production and the Director of Agricultural Services in the region. The minister also announced that the state is working to expand the list of subsidised products and inputs to support farmers and allow citizens to purchase products at affordable prices.

The minister inaugurated a private investor's cold storage facility in Hamadia with a capacity of 80,000 cubic metres, of which 19,000 cubic metres are already being used to store onions and white meat. He also encouraged young investors to get involved in agriculture by taking advantage of the various support mechanisms available.

During the visit, the Minister oversaw the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the November Revolution and the handover of 42 concession contracts to farmers.
