Work of the 12th Congress of the Arab Federation of Petroleum, Mining and Chemical Workers in Skikda

The opening ceremony of this two-day congress took place in the tourist town of Filfila in the presence of the Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA), Salim Labatcha, the Secretary General of the FATPMC, Imad Hamdi, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Inspector General of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, directors-general of national companies in the energy, mining and chemical sectors, as well as nearly 100 delegates from trade union organizations in 17 Arab countries.

The participants of the congress, which is being held for the first time in Algeria since the creation of this federation, aspire to find common working mechanisms to bring together the Arab labour forces in the energy, mining and chemical sectors and to make the common Arab market a reality through social dialogue at a time of new challenges.

It also aims to discuss FATPMC’s performance during the 2017-2022 mandate and to set the main lines for FATPMC’s action for the next mandate 2022-2027, FATPMC Secretary General Imad Hamdi told the APS outside the opening session.

The agenda of this congress includes the discussion of 12 activity reports of the FATPMC General Secretariat related to the organizational and financial aspects of the 2017-2022 session, the election of a new Secretary General for the 2022-2027 session and the final communiqué.
