The signing ceremony for these two memoranda took place at the Abdelatif-Rahal International Conference Centre in Algiers, at the end of the "African Telecommunications Day" organised on the sidelines of the 4th African Start-up Conference, in the presence of the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, and the Chinese Ambassador to Algeria, Dong Guangli.
The first agreement, signed by ATS Director General Toufik Hentabli and Geespace CEO Wang Yang, covers the development, manufacture and deployment of satellite-connected IT devices to strengthen Algeria's capabilities in this area. The agreement thus covers two major points, namely the creation of a satellite manufacturing plant in Algeria, thereby establishing the industrial base necessary for national and regional capabilities. The second part of this agreement aims to create a centre dedicated to satellites, involving applications, innovations and sustainable local resources.
ASAL Director General Azzedine Oussedik and the CEO of the Chinese company signed the second agreement. This agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in the manufacture of low-orbit satellites, enabling Algeria to position itself as a leader in Africa in the space sector. It should be noted that Geespace, which operates in the field of space and satellite technologies, is a subsidiary of the Chinese group Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.
