Promoting innovation and industrial development in Algeria

At the fourth edition of the award, start-up Nrecycli presented an ambitious project aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting the circular economy in Algeria. Since 2019, the company has been collecting and recycling PET plastic, particularly in Algiers and Blida, thanks to a structured network and a digital platform linking players in the sector. Its success reflects the growth of the start-up sector in Algeria, supported by a favorable regulatory framework and incentives.

The entrepreneurial ecosystem has been strengthened with the creation in 2020 of a ministry dedicated to start-ups and the knowledge economy, setting up tax incentives and facilitating access to financing. Events such as the African Startup Conference have consolidated Algeria's position on the African scene, with initiatives promoting innovation and the green economy.

Challenges and opportunities for the foundry industry

The national foundry industry cluster (Fondritech) has held its first meeting to explore ways of developing this sector and reducing dependence on imports. The Ministry of Industry highlighted the challenges faced, including the export of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, the lack of skilled manpower and the absence of technical standards. The meeting also discussed the organization of an international trade fair for iron, steel and mining products. The creation of the cluster is part of a strategy to strengthen processing industries and encourage innovation through public-private partnerships.

Strengthening the link between universities and the business world

An agreement has been signed between the Confédération Algérienne du Patronat (CAP) and the University of Mostaganem to bring academia and industry closer together. The agreement aims to promote the students' professional integration, research and training adapted to market needs. It provides opportunities for internships and immersion in companies, particularly in key sectors such as architecture and civil engineering. In this way, the CAP aims to strengthen the synergies between the university and business to build a more innovative and competitive economy.
