news-detail

Speaking this morning on the national radio station, Rachid Boukedjouta said that “there are research projects at international level and that Algeria is seeking, with the Mediterranean and Black Sea basin countries, to acquire new experiences”.

The guest also explained that “the CNRDPA conducts several research projects in the field of marine fisheries and aquaculture, the most significant of which is the research strategy that runs from 2022 to 2025 and which is governed according to the sector’s guidelines in this area.”

The official added that “23 research projects emerged from this strategy, spread over several specialties concerned with sea fishing, aquaculture and the exploitation of marine fisheries products, in particular freshwater fish, in addition to another research program related to aquatic ecosystems that concerns the safety of marine or continental oceans”.

Boukedjouta revealed that “the National Center for Research and Development in the Field of Fisheries and Aquaculture conducts campaigns to evaluate the fish wealth along the Algerian coast”, stating that “this is a routine evaluation, as the center has a research vessel with several state-of-the-art equipment and programs two campaigns per year to evaluate surface and so-called benthic (bottom) fish. Stressing that “this assessment is discretionary to guide and issue instructions and guidelines to maintain the continuity of the maritime fishing sector and activity”.

The Deputy Director of CNRDPA added that "there are several projects related to the importation of sea fish farming". As regards the farming of freshwater fish, the speaker said that “it exists at national level and that investors have started work in this direction on the ground”.

He said that “through years of activity in this field, the center has been able to master several techniques, including artificial hatching, fattening techniques and testing several fish feeds”, noting that “the technology exists adding “the existence of experimental stations spread across the whole national territory”.
