Initiated by the Directorate of Youth and Sport (DJS), with the support of the wilaya's Office of Youth Establishments (ODEJ), the competition was organised in two groups, one of which was made up of 40 members of the wilaya's youth centres, who competed in areas linked to the assembly and handling of robots, explained the director of the ODEJ, Youcef Djoudi.
For three days (29-31 May), these participants benefited from a training session held at the "Chahid Saâd Chaâbani" media library in the cité En-Nasr in Ouargla, supervised by robotics specialists from the science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics centres in Ouargla and Algiers.
The same official said, "The session was aimed at 8-15-year-olds, who were introduced to robot assembly and management techniques.
The second group, young people from the wilayas of Algiers and Ouargla, each with 15 participants, competed in professional robotics management techniques.
The winners of this competition will be able to attend an international competition on the same theme, scheduled for next October in Panama.
According to Mr Djoudi, this competition, the first of its kind in Ouargla, will be a prerequisite for creating clubs working in the field of robotics in the wilaya's youth facilities, in application of the guidelines laid down by the ministry responsible.
This scientific event is being organised with the Wilaya League for scientific and technical activities, with contributions from the leagues for youth cultural activities, outdoor activities, leisure activities, youth exchanges, and the youth information and entertainment association.
