On this occasion, Indian operators expressed strong interest in strengthening their presence in Algeria and developing direct investments in several key sectors, thanks to rapidly expanding bilateral relations and an economic environment considered to be promising.
Discussions focused on areas with high potential, particularly the pharmaceutical industry, which is considered strategic in terms of its industrial capacity and prospects for development in the regional market, as well as the mechanical engineering industry, agriculture, technology and industrial equipment.
Participants at this meeting discussed the implementation of joint projects, the development of joint ventures and the strengthening of productive investments.
According to CACI President Tayeb Chebab, this meeting reflects both countries' desire to develop their trade relations and facilitate exchanges between economic operators.
He emphasised that "it is possible to raise the level of trade between Algeria and India to its full potential, particularly thanks to an attractive business climate in Algeria, simplified administrative procedures, developments in the legal framework, and support for exports to Africa and Arab countries, with which Algeria has trade agreements".
In this context, he called on Indian investors to contribute to efforts to diversify the national economy through technology transfer and the development of expertise.
For her part, Sihem Nafaa, Director of Promotion and Support for Economic Exchanges at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the "strength of bilateral relations", emphasising the importance of this meeting in enabling operators from both countries to identify win-win partnerships.
She pointed out that Algeria's strategic location, the quality of its infrastructure and its legal framework are factors conducive to creating added value and developing mutually beneficial collaborations.
For her part, India's Ambassador to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni, pointed out that this is the second Indian business mission in the space of a month, following the recent visit of a large delegation from the pharmaceutical sector, while highlighting the diversity of the sectors represented, including automotive, textiles, agri-food, chemicals and engineering, as well as the importance of B2B meetings for promoting partnerships and joint projects.
Recalling the strength and positive momentum of bilateral relations between Algeria and India, reinforced by the "historic" visit of Indian President Droupadi Murmu, to Algeria in October 2024, and by the organisation of the first Indo-Algerian Business Forum, the ambassador highlighted the respective economic strengths of the two countries, emphasising the growing interest of Indian investors in Algeria, considered a "strategic gateway to European and African markets".
Against a backdrop of diversification in the Algerian economy and sustained growth in the Indian economy, she expressed confidence in the emergence of new mutually beneficial partnerships, calling on operators in both countries to strengthen cooperation based on shared interests and a win-win partnership.
For his part, Manish Sharma, President of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), said that the mission aims to translate the quality of political relations between India and Algeria into concrete results by strengthening trade relations.
He emphasised that the Algerian market is a "strategic access point" for Indian investors expecting to expand their presence in Africa, adding that Indian companies can "supply products".
