Indeed, “a leap in production” was achieved by
the province during the period indicated, in the field of aquaculture, in
addition to harness of process and seeding techniques so as to guarantee the
sustainability of the fish stocks, strengthen food security and raise the value
of the local product, in the framework of the vision of the new Algeria, aiming
at the recovery of the fishing sector and the promotion of the aquaculture
activity, through the promulgation of a series of regulatory measures and laws
to organize the sector, local director of fisheries and aquaculture, Hocine
Melikeche told APS news agency.
He pointed to the “proven contribution” of tax
incentives and facilitations decided by the country’s top authorities, in
response to complaints from industry professionals, including the reduction of
value-added tax for investors in the field, “in launching new investments that
have earned Chlef national leadership, in this area, with six marine farms,
which increased its production capacity from 1,400 tons of fish in 2019 to
2,200 tons in 2020.”
