Ghardaïa: more than 11,700 visitors during the Saharan tourist season

The province of Ghardaïa recorded over 11,700 tourists during the 2025-2026 Saharan tourist season. Among them were 3,729 foreign visitors, according to figures released by the local tourism and crafts department.

A large proportion of visitors to the wilaya of Ghardaïa visit the ancient ksours of the M'zab Valley, some of which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These traditional cities are distinguished by their unique architecture and the specific layout of their dwellings. They are one of the region's main tourist attractions, combining historical heritage with desert landscapes.

To meet tourist demand, the province has 32 hotels with over 2,600 beds and 57 youth hostels with a total of around 1,450 beds. Other accommodation facilities are also available, including rest centres run by various public institutions. Homestay accommodation is also available in 21 residences inspired by traditional architecture, allowing visitors to discover the local way of life. Thanks to its cultural heritage and Saharan landscapes, Ghardaïa attracts many visitors annually, a gateway to the oases and southern and extreme southern regions.
