The initiative is part of a national strategy aimed at promoting field crops and accelerating agricultural mechanisation to increase yields. According to details provided by an internal source at ETRAG, the production strategy is based on two distinct ranges. The first is a 75-horsepower tractor, primarily intended for northern regions. According to our sources, this model will combine the robustness and simplicity of the Cirta brand with modern features. We are told that this model has already passed the prototyping stage. The target is to produce at least 500 units by the start of the second half of the year, i.e. July.
The same sources added that the company will simultaneously launch manufacturing of more powerful 120-horsepower tractors. These units are specifically designed to meet the requirements of the vast agricultural lands in southern regions. Our sources emphasised that, to support the expansion of arable land, this new equipment will benefit from significant technological innovations. Beyond that, there is the performance of the new agricultural equipment, with the integration of power steering and digital dashboards. This, we are told, justifies this increase in power: the imperative to optimise the yield of large agricultural areas.
In addition to assembly, the company is consolidating its leading role by leveraging its significant capabilities in manufacturing spare parts. According to the same sources, several subcontracting agreements have been signed; essential engine components will now be manufactured locally in its workshops, providing structural support to the agricultural machinery sector in Algeria.
In short, this industrial initiative aims to respond in a targeted manner to the specific needs of large farms across the country, in line with the guidelines set out by the President of the Republic, Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who has a particular interest in the agricultural sector and all areas related to the construction of agricultural equipment.
