Renewable energies: Yassaâ receives a delegation from BSW Solar
ALGIERS - The Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy, responsible for Renewable Energies, Mr. Noureddine Yassaâ, received a delegation from the German Federal Solar Industry Association (BSW Solar) in Algiers on Wednesday, led by Director General of International Affairs, David Wedepohl. They discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the renewable energy sector, according to a statement from the ministry.
At a meeting between Algerian representatives and the German delegation from BSW Solar, the two parties explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, particularly through partnerships between the Sonelgaz Group and German companies specializing in solar energy. Discussions focused on the local manufacture of solar components, technology transfer and training, as well as the development of projects linked to green hydrogen, electricity transmission and smart grids.
Discussions focused on the 'TaqatHy+' project and the memorandum of understanding signed in February 2024, which aims to strengthen Algerian capabilities and develop a local renewable energy industry. The Algerian official added that this cooperation forms part of the national sustainable energy transition strategy. German expertise was praised as a vital means of achieving these goals.
The German delegation expressed a strong interest in the Algerian market, which was seen as a promising one for sustainable strategic partnerships, particularly in a favourable regulatory environment. The German BSW Solar Association is a driving force in shaping Germany's energy policies and a key supporter of companies looking to expand abroad.
