Cevital offically opens production plant for universal electric motors for washing machines

Located in Sétif, the factory was inaugurated by Minister of Industry Ahmed Zeghdar visiting the wilaya, in the presence of Brazilian ambassador in Algeria Flavio Mariga and wali of Sétif Mohamed Amine Dramchi.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Industry, the new plant is the result of a partnership between Cevital group and the Brazilian company WEG, specialized in the manufacture of universal electric motors for washing machines for domestic and export markets.

As part of this partnership, the two partners Cevital and Weg have created a joint venture called «WEG Algeria Motors». The latter will produce between 1 and 1.2 million electric motors for washing machines annually, which will meet the needs expressed by companies operating in the field of household appliances and export abroad, particularly to North African countries and the surrounding markets.

The investment amount is €10 million. The plant will increase the integration rate of washing machines produced in Algeria to 80% against 60% currently. The plant will produce engines to the latest industry standards. The plant will create 100 jobs.
