According to a statement from the Sonarem group, the meeting was chaired by the governor of Bejaia, Kamel-Eddine Kerbouche, with the participation of Sonarem's CEO, Reda Belhadj, the president of the Popular Assembly of the Wilaya (APW) of Bejaïa, the project director and representative of the Algerian-Australian joint venture (BZL), as well as members of the National People's Assembly (APN), the interim heads of the daïras of Amizour and Tichy, the presidents of the Tala Hamza and Amizour Communal People's Assemblies (APC), and the relevant executive directors.
During the meeting, the wali reaffirmed “the ongoing support for this strategic project,” highlighting the expected socio-economic benefits, including the creation of direct and indirect jobs, the strengthening of vocational training opportunities, the development of the mining processing industry, and the transfer of expertise and technology. The meeting also provided an opportunity to hear farmers' concerns, who welcomed the project and expressed support for initiatives that boost the region's development.
