Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting devoted to issues related to personal data protection in the insurance sector, Mr Berrah emphasised that the current year has marked a significant turning point for individual insurance. He pointed out that, at the same time, the non-life insurance sector continues to grow at a pace broadly in line with that of the national economy, despite the existence of growth drivers that remain under-exploited. According to the data provided, the national insurance market recorded a turnover of 99.3 billion dinars in the first half of 2025, up 8.1% compared to the same period last year. The non-life insurance sector, which accounts for 83% of the market, achieved a turnover of 80.6 billion dinars between January and the end of June, representing an annual increase of 8.2%. For its part, the life insurance sector totalled nearly 12 billion dinars over the same period, up 6.7%, compared with growth of 3.2% recorded for the whole of 2024, reflecting a significant acceleration in this activity. Discussing the sector's prospects, Mr Berrah said that the new insurance bill, currently being prepared by the government, should breathe new life into the industry. In particular, he highlighted the expected development of insurtechs and the creation of an independent authority responsible for supervising insurance activities. The UAR's general delegate also highlighted the initiatives undertaken by the public authorities to strengthen and modernise the insurance sector. He described these actions as important levers that will help transform the industry and sustain its growth.
