During a working visit to the province with Wali Djamel-Eddine Hashas, the minister announced the implementation of an ambitious program to gradually reduce imports of seeds and seedlings, particularly for market gardening, to strengthen food security. He stressed that the integration of modern technologies and the development of local seed production are a priority, with preparations underway for the creation of a production hub between Ghardaïa and El-Ménia, which will also be geared towards export.

This strategy should reduce costs, improve competitiveness, and support other agricultural sectors, including certain fruit varieties such as bananas. The minister praised the example set by the wilaya of Blida in adopting modern technologies, highlighting successful farms such as the “Vitroplant” nursery in Beni Tamou, which produces nearly 15 million plants per year and is opening up to export.  The visit also included modern farms and an inspection of a grain storage silo in El Affroun, with a capacity of 1 million quintals, scheduled to be operational by the end of the year.
