The centre will be equipped with the latest-generation GPUs, offering HPC capabilities to Algerian researchers, startups and companies. It will develop applications in fields as diverse as healthcare, industry, cybersecurity and smart cities.
The project is based on three strategic axes: setting up suitable infrastructures, strengthening training and research in collaboration with universities, and supporting startups in developing technological solutions. The aim is to reduce dependence on foreign infrastructures and create an ecosystem conducive to digital innovation.
At the CTO Forum Algeria last February, Sid Ali Zerrouki emphasized Algeria's ambition to achieve a 7% contribution of AI to GDP by 2027. He also announced the launch, by Algérie Télécom, of a 1.5 billion dinars investment fund to support AI, cybersecurity and robotics startups, to reach 20,000 startups in the short term.
On the sidelines of a visit to Oran, the ministers inaugurated the new Mobilis head office and the first Skill Centre dedicated to telecoms startups strengthening the innovative companies' ecosystem and improving service quality.
