Relaunch of the Djelfa cement plant: Gherib receives a delegation from China's CSCEC

On Tuesday, Industry Minister Sifi Gherib received a delegation from the Chinese company China National Engineering and Construction Corporation Limited (CSCEC), to continue the State's efforts to relaunch the Djelfa cement plant, one of the projects confiscated from former oligarchs as part of the fight against corruption.

According to a press release from the Ministry, the Minister, who received the CSCEC delegation in the presence of the CEO of the GICA Group, gave several instructions to rapidly relaunch this project, which has been stalled until now.

In this respect, the Minister instructed, in particular, to speed up the creation of the mixed company in charge of managing the project, to prepare a detailed report on the parties involved and the measures required to relaunch the project as quickly as possible, and also to carry out the necessary technical studies, while studying the possibility of moving towards the production of green cement to strengthen the competitiveness of the Algerian product, its access to world markets and increasing exports.

The Minister also stressed the importance of ongoing coordination between the various stakeholders and of immediately reporting any obstacles the project might face.
