The Kuwaiti group Metro Holding Company plans to launch a strategic project in Algeria to produce electrolysers locally for the green hydrogen sector. This project, presented to Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab, is based on technology transfer and will help strengthen Algeria's competitiveness by reducing its dependence on imports. It is part of the national program for green hydrogen production (40 TWh/year) and the development of the SoutH2 energy corridor to Europe. This initiative positions Algeria as a key energy player at the regional level, with an energy mix combining natural gas, green hydrogen, and green electricity.
