The deal was signed yesterday at Safex between the head of Algeria's Ham Motors and Tunisian and Chadian operators, valued at $1.2 million. This may seem small compared to other agreements worth hundreds of millions of dollars, but $1.2 million is still a significant amount in the two-wheel sector, especially since SYM is the first brand of scooters produced in Algeria to be exported. This is a first for Algeria Ham Motors, thanks to the quality of the vehicles produced and the international reputation of SYM, which is originally from Thailand, but also to the reputation of the Algerian operator, which started out assembling SYM scooters before moving on to CKD with 35% integration today. At least, that is what the factory manager has stated. For his part, the boss of Algerian Ham Motors has specified that scooters will be exported to Tunisia, and tricycles to Chad.
Alongside VMS Industrie, Algeria Ham Motors is considered the benchmark for motorcycles made in Algeria, where this mode of transportation is booming.
